Law of Registry, Records, and Provenance

Section 1. Registry authority

The Registry is the authoritative system for official status, custody, provenance, amendment, publication, and preservation.

Section 2. Original packages

Original source packages shall be preserved unchanged where practicable. Extraction, classification, redaction, conversion, and public export shall occur in separate working areas.

Section 3. Checksums

Important packages and public exports should carry cryptographic checksums. A failed checksum shall stop publication until resolved.

Section 4. Custody events

Receipt, transfer, extraction, verification, classification, approval, publication, correction, and retirement should create dated custody events.

Section 5. Append-only history

A past custody event shall not be rewritten merely to make the present record appear cleaner. Errors shall be corrected by a later linked event.

Section 6. Public exports

A public export shall be derived deliberately from a verified source and shall identify its public status, version, approval, and relationship to the private original.

Section 7. Private Registry

The private Registry may contain records, metadata, or services not available to the public. Its existence does not create a public right of access.

Section 8. Public Registry

The public Registry shall display only approved public records. It shall not expose credentials, raw memory packets, private correspondence, protected family records, sealed holdings, or private infrastructure.

Section 9. Disputed status

Where authority or provenance is disputed, the Registry shall display the dispute rather than choosing silently.

Section 10. Preservation

The Steward shall maintain backups, recovery procedures, versioned exports, and periodic verification appropriate to the value of the record.
